Course summary
The Edexcel BTEC Higher National Diploma in Fashion and Textiles has been designed to meet the emerging market for artisan crafts and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Creative Industries. As such, it will help you gain an understanding of a range of industry standard skills within the Fashion and Textiles area.
The course provides opportunities for learners to apply their knowledge and practical skills in a creative environment, which stresses the link between strong creative concepts and high production values.

The Edexcel BTEC Higher National Diploma in Fashion and Textiles comprises 245 credits, with each unit having a value of 15–20 credits. Students will complete a HNC at Level 4, before proceeding on to the HND at Level 5.

Students also need GCSE English at grade C or above and significant, relevant work .
The College welcomes applications from anyone with a genuine wish to succeed; and can provide evidence of experience in the Fashion or Textiles sector.
All students attend an interview where they will be asked to bring a portfolio of project work.
Qualification
On successful completion of the course students are awarded the Edexcel BTEC Higher National Diploma in Fashion and Textiles.
Assessment Information
As with all BTEC courses, students will be assessed by building a portfolio of evidence using a range of assessment methods which are dependent on the unit content, and could include:
You will be required to complete a number of assignments for each unit. Each unit will have a detailed list of Pass, Merit and Distinction criteria that will need to be met. Final Grades will be agreed at an Exam Board held at the end of Year Two. Year Two culminates with a Final Show exhibition of selected work.
Progression
Edexcel BTEC Higher National Diploma in Fashion and Textiles can lead to self-employment opportunities, as well as progression on to degree courses in Fashion Textiles or a related discipline.
